FAQ

How long should I expect my first visit to last?

You should allow 45-60 minutes of consultation time with your provider and a few minutes for registration and check-out. Our office forms are available on this website should you prefer to prepare in advance and shorten the registration time.

How confidential is my visit?

The time you spend with your provider is completely confidential and we can only disclose your protected health information after you have given written consent. However, your written consent is not required to release information when it is so mandated by the court or in instances when you pose as a significant threat to the safety of yourself or others. (For further information see Client Privacy Notice located in office forms.)

Can I use my insurance plan to pay for services rendered?

We work for our patients, not for the insurance companies or their benefits administrators.  And, we know our clients and patients prefer to have the utmost privacy whenever possible, without having to share unnecessary details about their lives with others outside our offices.  Therefore, ours is a “self-pay” practice, and we do not file insurance in our office.  However, we’ll be happy to provide you with the documentation to accompany your claim forms if you would like to file with your insurance yourself.  In such cases, and reimbursements will come directly back to you.  If you’d like to know more about why we’ve chosen to be independent in this manner, please just call us at 843.971.5171 and we’ll be glad to tell you more.

What if my provider does not participate with my health insurance plan?

If you consult with a practitioner here who does not participate in your health insurance or HMO plan, you will be responsible for payment in full for each service at or before the time of service. If you would then like to submit claims for reimbursement to your health insurance or HMO plan, we will be happy to provide you the appropriate documentation to include with your claim forms. Then, any reimbursements your plan provides will be delivered directly to you. If you are a Medicare recipient and your provider does not participate, then Medicare will not allow you to submit a claim for reimbursement. In this instance you must sign a contract of understanding.  Other helpful information is available at the Forms link on our website; see “Important Instructions for Filing Your Own Insurance Claims.”  Or, ask us and we’ll be happy to help you with this process.

What type of payments are accepted?

We accept personal checks, cash, debit cards and all major credit cards including VISA, Mastercard, Discover, and American Express. We ask that all payments are made at the time of service unless you give us a debit/credit card to keep on file, in which case charges will be processed within a day or two following your visit.
